  2. 1752- Franklin discovers electricity • 1754- French Indian war (Ohio river valley) • 1765- Stamp act (payed off war dept) • 1770- Boston massacre. 5 Members of angry mob killed • 1773- Boston tea party • 1775-1776- American revolution and declaration of independence

Continental Congress • First session held September 5 to October 26, 1774. • All colonies except Virginia sent delegates • In the second(1775), Continental army formed • Articles of Confederation first introduced • Declaration of Independence written • Ben Franklin was sent to France to sign alliance with Louis XVI

  4. 1791- Bill of rights (first 10 amendments) • 1803 to1804- Louisiana purchase/exploration • 1811 to 1814- War of 1812. Helped French fight British

  5. People • George Washington, born 1732, died • 1799Thomas Jefferson, born 1743, died July 4 1826 (The same day as John Adams) • Benjamin Franklin, born 1706, died 1790
