  2. CDBG Disaster Recovery Grant • $475,822 awarded to Alachua County as a result of 2008 Tropical Storm Fay • Non-competitive grant • Priority - disaster relief related to T.S. Fay • If no damages, then mitigate future damages

  3. CDBG Disaster Recovery Grant Project Criteria • Must meet one of three national objectives: • Benefit low- and moderate-income persons • Prevent or eliminate slum or blight • Address urgent community development needs • 14% minimum for affordable rental housing

CDBG Disaster Recovery Grant Public Participation • Public meeting December 3, 2009 • Invited municipalities, housing authorities, county staff • Participants submitted potential projects • Those not in attendance invited to submit projects • Participants decided to allot 25% to affordable rental housing • Application due January 15, 2010

  5. CDBG Disaster Recovery Grant The Projects • Gainesville Housing Authority – Roofing system repair • Alachua County Housing Authority – Rehabilitation • City of Gainesville - Roof replacement program

  6. CDBG Disaster Recovery Grant The Projects • City of Newberry – Drainage improvements in LMI neighborhood • City of Archer – Stormwater basin improvements in LMI neighborhood

  8. CDBG Disaster Recovery Grant Next Steps • County must submit approved contract by May 31 • DCA execution of the contract • Sub-recipient agreements for each project
