National Natural Science Foundation of China General Introduction • Founded in 1986 • under the affiliation of the State Council • an official funding institution for the NNS Fund • to support initiative research and talent training in fundamental sciences in China • 2005 budget: RMB 2.7 billion (non-salary), about ¼ of the national fundamental research budget • annual increase rate of the budget: over 20% • 84M budget in 2005 for international cooperation
