What has Baba done? • What other good deeds has Baba done in the novel? • For most of the novel, Amir feels guilty. Why? • Khaled Hosseini makes extensive use of foreshadowing in the novel. List 2 instances BEFORE the rape, where Hosseini indicates something bad will happen to Hassan. • Khaled Hosseini also makes extensive use of flashback in the novel. List 2 instances AFTER the rape, when Amir thinks back to the rape. • Both Hassan and Sohrab are compared to what animal?

  4. The Muslim slaughtering of a lamb (in chapter 7) presents a contrasting view of redemption. During this time, he states (paradoxically) that ‘I felt healed at last.’ Why does he feel healed at this point in the novel?
