From left to right: My sister Colleen, her wonderful daughter Elizabeth, my sister Joanne, her wonderful yet suspicious daughter Caitlin, and John, Caitlin’s father, Joanne’s husband, and the object of Caitlin’s suspicion. I traveled with some of my family members, which is more fun than it sounds.
We stayed at Waimea Plantation Cottages – beautiful! (www.waimeaplantation.com)
The wedding itself was held there as well. It was a “white” wedding – i.e. all guests were expected to wear white. So we did our best. The Costello Family in all its glory!
As you can see, I looked like an egg. But the reception was quite lovely. It was held right next to the beach, and everyone received a beautiful lei to wear. I have to admit that, as I stood dressed in white on the grounds of a former sugar cane plantation drinking gin and tonic, I had only positive thoughts about empires and colonialism.
But Kauai wasn’t just about a family reunion. It was about beaches and spectacular sunsets, too!
It was also about James taking “artistic” shots with his new camera!
The view from our table at lunch! Kauai has much to offer. For example Waimea Canyon in the interior. Or the more touristry eastern coast, with its surfing and beautiful Hotel Princeville.
