History • Formed post High Level Forum on Health MDGs • Meeting in June 2007 at DfID • Steering Committee: currently DfID, EC, Healthnet TPO, IMC, IRC-UK, Merlin, Save the Children UK, UNICEF, University of New South Wales, Sydney, World Bank HNP, WHO-Health Systems Strengthening. • Secretariat: Conflict and Health Program, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM)

  3. Objectives • Foster dialogue, and advocate for best practice (i.e. aid effectiveness, health service delivery, health systems strengthening, health financing) • Inform and influence policy issues • Identify, stimulate and conduct research • Improve knowledge management • Encourage conceptual links to other sectors (governance, education, livelihoods)

  4. Activities to Date • Developed a ToR and website • Discussed areas of engagement with other Networks (including the INEE, Action for Global Health, Reproductive Health in Crises Consortium) • Engaged in technical and policy dialogues (LSHTM/Merlin conference; IHP+) • Briefing paper on research gaps in fragile states (in collaboration with the WHO Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research) • Commissioned two papers – transitional funding gap and health and state-building

  5. Upcoming Activities • June - launch meetings in Amsterdam (KIT), Brussels (EC), Washington DC (WB and IMC), and Paris (OECD-DAC), London (DfID). • Good Practice Report • Exploratory/in-depth research • Regional workshops on research and good practice • Eldis dossier on health and fragile states
