"I will be successful if". by: Axel-Ross Damasco. I will sleep at least 9 hours for 5 days a week, by trying to go to sleep at 9:00 pm every day. I will also try to take more naps after my classes.

  1. "I will be successful if" by: Axel-Ross Damasco

  2. I will sleep at least 9 hours for 5 days a week, by trying to go to sleep at 9:00 pm every day. I will also try to take more naps after my classes.  Why: Sleep is important because it can help me improve my mind to be more alert. If I'm more alert I would do better on things like test scores, homework assignments, and projects. Also sleep can also improve my energy level by a large amount (84). Sleep

  3. I will eat at least 9 fruits and vegetables daily. I can accomplish this goal by managing my diet. I can eat 2 fruits and 1 vegetable at breakfast, one fruit and one vegetable at lunch, then at dinner I will eat 2 fruits and 2 vegetables. I will also eat another fruit as a snack in between meals.  Why: fruits and vegetables provide vitamins and minerals that are needed to give me energy that I will need daily (84).    Food

  4. I will exercise more during the to get a minimum of 45 minuets for three days a week. I can accomplish this goal by taking the stairs rather than the elevator, running in the morning, and also getting involved with more sports like soccer, tennis and volleyball. Why: Getting enough exercise a week can help burn more calories and also help my lungs and heart become stronger (127).  Exercise-Cardio

  5. I will continue not to smoke because of the negative effects that you can get when you do smoke tobacco. Some ways that I can prevent smoking is to do something positive and healthier. Rather than smoking I can do something positive like doing community service at least once a month(270). Why: Smoking can cause cancer, damage to your stomach and intestines and also bad breath. No Tobacco

  6. I will thy not to get stressed. Some ways of preventing stress is to plan ahead. For example if there is an assignment due I will try to finish it earlier, rather than wait until the last minute because then I wouldn't have to think about it . I would also try to plan out my day before hand so I wont have to get stressed about things. Why: Stress can cause me to be nervous forgetful and even confused(81). No Stress

  7. I will continue to make decisions that will make a positive impact on me, especially if I'm about to do something that is unhealthy. One example of a positive decision that I can make is if I'm ever pressured to do drugs or drink alcohol I would refuse because it could lead me down the wrong path in life.  I will make positive decisions where ever i go, but especially where places I'm most likely to get pressured. Why: Positive decisions can lead to a healthier life and more opportunities(33). Positive Decisions 

  8. I will continue to have a high self-esteem at all times, but especially when I feel down or depressed. Other than feeling sad for myself I would rather be proud of my accomplishments because its better to feel good about myself than feel bad.  Why: Having a high self-esteem can make me want to try new things, feel optimistic, and also gives me confidence (51). Self-Esteem

  9. I will continue to live cancer-free for the rest of my life by making healthier choices like eating right, exercising, and also choosing not to smoke or drink. Eating right can help me avoid colon cancer, not smoking can prevent respiratory cancer, and not drinking can help me avoid cancer of the liver.  Why: These choices can prevent the likelihood of me getting any type of cancer (351).   No Cancer

  10. I will maintain setting out goals during my life so I could be successful and it could also help me to be a better person over all. For example one of my goals is to finish college and become a Physician's Assistant (PA). I will achieve this goal by doing good  in high school and getting accepted into a university that I applied to.  Why: Goals are like instructions that guide people to here they're headed (38).   Goals

  11. I will try not to get diabetes by eating right and exercising. I will portion my meals so that at breakfast, lunch and dinner I will have 50% of my plate filled with fruit and vegetables. I will also maintain my by exercising. I will try to run at least once a day to burn off the calories that I consumed during the day. Diabetes type one can cause fatigue and weight loss.  Why: Diabetes type two can cause blurred vision frequent infections  and slow healing soars (356).  No Diabetes

  12. i will continue to have a healthy way of coping with difficult times in my life. For example if i ever need moral support i will go to my mother. Some benefits of finding a healthy of coping are that i can relive my stress and other emotional problems.  Why: If I find a healthy way to cope with my problems it could lead to not having anger and depression (430).   13. I will continue to have have great relationships with my friends and family. I will choose to make life-long friends that will make a positive impact on my day-to-day life. I can go to my friends when I need help on a subject and also if I need moral support. I will also try to build positive relationships with my family too. I will communicate with them more because no matter what your is always there for me and, I cant get rid of them Why: Having great relationships can prevent misunderstandings and can build healthy relationships (55).  Great Relationships

  14. I will try to compromise myself when I'm in a situation that requires compromise. For example when I'm married I know that can always get what i want, but when I compromise it will help benefit the people around me. Compromise is not just for marriage, compromise is important in families because every time I get in a disagreement with siblings I will try to make a compromise so that it won't cause a dramatic fight. Why: Compromise is vital to living a healthy life because you will get into arguments, but you have to compromise yourself to make it better (411).  Compromise

  15. I will continue not to drink alcohol because it's an unhealthy habit that can lead into medical complications. Every time I'm pressured to drink, I will refuse because the only thing that will go through my mind is all the negative effects caused by drinking. For example, I can get cirrhosis if I drink for a long period of time through out my life. I can also get into a serious accident if I ever choose to drink and drive. Why: I will avoid alcohol because I alcohol can impair my motor skills and reaction time (253).  No Alcohol

  16. I will try to build more muscle every Saturday afternoon. Some ways that I can accomplish this goal is to do more intensive exercises like, doing push ups and pull ups every Saturday for a duration of at least 45 minuets at the gym.  Why: Building muscle strength is important because it can benefit my physical health by making my heart and lungs stronger, which allows more blood and oxygen to flow through out my body. It can also help prevent injuries because muscles help the body to be more efficient (127). Build Muscle Strength

  17. I will try to maintain my optimal weight by exercising daily and eating right. I will exercise by walking my dog every morning and afternoon so I could burn off the calories that I ate during the day. I will also eat my recommended daily amount of fruit. The most important thing that I will try to not eat as many sweets during the day, but if i do eat sweets I will try to moderate it to only a few. Why: keeping an optmial weight is important because it can help prevent me form things like becoming overweight and getting diabetes (198).    Optimal Weight

  18. I will continue to live without heart disease because it can lead to medical issues. Some ways I can try to accomplish this goal is to eat healthy, for example during my meals I will try to eat healthier. I will try to eat things like whole grain bread and more vegetables. I will also try to exercise more to help strengthen my heart.  Why: Heart disease is important to prevent because it can lead to heart attacks and strokes (345).   No Heart Disease

  19. I will try not to get tricked by the media by becoming more active because then I would have to see as much advertisements for things that wouldn't be healthy for me. I will also try to do research about items that I may be compelled to buy. For example when a commercial comes on about a prescription drug, I will try to get information about it by going to a trusted internet source, and I will also ask my doctor if it's healthy for me to be taking it. Why: Avoiding media influences can help me because it can prevent me from putting things that are unhealthy in my body (238). No Media Influences

  20. I will try to keep my reproductive system healthy by practicing good hygiene through out my life. Maintaining good hygiene can help me to avoid diseases and infections in my reproductive system.  Why: I can prevent cystitis, a bladder infection, by taking the proper precautions (441).   Reproductive System

  21. I will stay away from becoming sexually active because it can help me to become healthier. I will stay abstinent until marriage because sexual activity can cause sexually transmitted diseases and it can also add stress to my relationships. Why: Refraining from sexual activity can help me create less complicated relationship, freedom form pressure, and having an increase amount of self-respect (462).    No Sexual Activity
