Noah and the Flood What the story says… • The Earth was wicked and corrupt • Noah found favor with God • He had three sons (Shem, Ham, and Japheth) • God’s Command • Make an Ark (Gopher wood), compartments, 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, and 30 cubits tall, 1 cubit=(17-22in.), windows, 3 decks, • Take your family (including 3 sons and wives) • Take two of everything that lives male and female • Take seven pairs of every clean animal and seven pairs of the birds also • Rained 40 days and 40 nights

Continued.. • Noah was 600 years old when the floods came • After the floods Noah built and alter for the Lord • God said “Never again will I doom the earth because of man, since the devisings of man’s mind are evil from his youth; nor will I ever again destroy every living being, as I have done” • God symbolizes his covenant with a rainbow • Noah curses Canaan because of Ham’s decision. He was enslaved by to Shem and Japheth

Modern Noah’s Ark Discovered • Discovered in Turkey on Mount Ararat. • In mid May 1948 • It was discovered by a local Kurdish Shepherd, ReshitSarihan • Three earthquakes in Turkey revealed an impression in the earth where the ark once layed. • Impression measured 550 feet which can be converted to 300 cubits which is how long the ark was. (refer to slide 2)
