Final mark • Final exam- 90% of the final mark • Compulsory written assignment during the semester- up to 10% of the final mark
Oral presentation • Extra work: Oral presentation ( up to 10% of the final mark) Topics for presentation and schedule will be distributed next week. Topics will be served on a first come-first served basis. Outline of presentation will have to be communicated to the lecturer in advance.

Introductionto EU Competition Law • Directeffect: Certainprovisions of EU lawaredirectlyeffectiveinthattheycreateindividualrightswhichnationalcourts must protectwithoutanyneedforimplementinglegislationinthatMemberState. Directlyeffectiveprovisions must be unconditional and sufficientlyprecisebeforeitcanproducedirecteffects. Introductionto EU Competition Law Article 258 Infringementprocedure (ex Article 226 TEC) • IftheCommissionconsidersthat a MemberState has failedtofulfil an obligationundertheTreaties, itshalldeliver a reasonedopiniononthematteraftergivingtheStateconcernedtheopportunitytosubmititsobservations. • IftheStateconcerneddoesnotcomplywiththeopinionwithintheperiodlaid down bytheCommission, thelattermaybringthematterbeforetheCourt of Justiceofthe European Union. • Competitionlawconsists of rulesthatareintendedtoprotecttheprocessofcompetitioninordertomaximiseconsumerwelfare.
