Definition • Illegal Immigrant: An alien (non-citizen) who has entered the United States without government permission or stayed beyond the termination date of a visa.
Where they come from • Illegal immigrants come from countries with a lower socioeconomic level or developing countries.
Overpopulation • Overpopulation can cause pollution, water crisis, and poverty which makes people want to leave there country. • Since 1900 the worlds population has went from 1.6 billion to 6.7 billion people. Mexico's population has gone from 13.6 million people to 107 million people.
Wars • Some illegally immigrate from there country to get a way from a war or civil war. Some wars are caused from persecution of religion.
Border Crossing • Border crossing is a popular way of illegal immigration. • In between 1998 and 2004 1,954 people have died attempting to cross the USA-Mexico border. Most deaths are caused from dehydration from long walks without water.
Mexico and United States Border The border of Mexico and The United States is 1,969 miles long. Since 1996 there have been 256 border incursions by Mexican government officials.
