MISSION : • Enhancing the interface between research and its operational and strategic management • A strong and effective professional network of research managers and administrators at all levels • Personal relationships, presentations, formal and informal meetings and publications • Developing and promoting professional standards for research management in Australasia consistent with international best practice • Representing the profession and advocating on members’ behalf. • PLAN REVIEW: Undertaken at a Strategic Planning Day on 25 March, 2014.
ARMS Governance • ARMS is an Australian Incorporated Association http://researchmanagement.org.au/docs/ARMS_origins.pdf • It is a non-profit organisation governed by an approved ARMS Constitution and operationalised by a set of By-Laws • The Society is governed by an Executive made up of five elected voting members as Office Bearers and four additional voting members as committee members. • ARMS is organised into Chapters, Standing Committees and Special Interest Groups who report to the Executive and are directed by the ARMS 2020 Strategic Plan

ARMS & INORMS • ARMS is one of the funding members of INORMS • ARMS hosted the First INORMS Congress held in Brisbane in 2006 • 22-25 August 2006, in Brisbane, Australia. It was attended by 450 delegates, from 23 countries, 173 workshop participants, 71 national and international speakers, and 21 sponsors • 2016 INORMS Congress is coming home to Melbourne

ARMS Standing Committees • International Committee: develops ARMS' international linkages and fosters members' awareness of international developments. Leading role in the Society's linkages and networks in foreign countries. • Professional Development Committee: develops, implements and promotes quality PD to serve members' needs, including ARMS' own education and training programs and workshops as well as programs from other education and training providers. • Marketing and Communications Committee: provides oversight of the marketing and communications activities of the society, eg. Up in ARMS newsletters; ARMS website; oversees membership records and develops plans and materials to foster Society growth. • Policy Standing Committee: supports the 2020 Strategic Plan goal of leading and being a voice for the profession of research management in Australasia and to coordinate the ARMS response to relevant policy documents and reviews across the region. • Conference Organising Committee: organisesARMS' annual conferences. Responsible for program content, the conference theme and associated social and other activities. • Chapter Committees: Chapter Committees oversee ARMS activities in geographical areas.
