This PowerPoint will cover: • Step 7: Writing your Narrative. • Step 8: Submitting your Artifact.
Step 7 Write your narrative.
Please draft your narrative in a word document, Copy & Paste, and be sure to Save Updated Comments and Changes in OTIS.Spelling, Grammar, and complete sentences are important here! Also include in your narrative…1) Dimensions and medium of your artworks.2) Rationale for selected standards: This is the most important part of your narrative! This shows your ability to think in a professional manner and direction about your art work. These standards will help you make professional connections to your classes, art work, and experiences during your training here. You will continue professional development as you teach, still using these standards to measure your growth!
Next, write a narrative about your artwork. There are guiding questions on each artifact page. You should think about these questions, and how they relate to the standards you have chose. It is most important that you write a clear, concise demonstration that you understand the standards you have chosen. Use complete sentences and state the standard you are addressing when you write a clear explanation of why this artifact is a good example of that standard. • Below is a student example: She first answered some of the guiding questions about the artifact, explained the materials, classroom observation in which the lesson was executed, and a professional comment on the experience. Then, she clearly demonstrated standards and connections in the manner above. Clear, Concise, Easy!
For both TEP and Mid-level Review: Write your narrative for any other artifacts (resume, teaching philosophy statement) • For Mid-level Review ONLY: Write your narrative for lesson plans, reflections, etc. • BE SURE to include a rationale for applied standards.
Step 8 Submit your artifact.
