  3. Quick-Write • Are either Tom or Daisy people that you feel like you might get along with? • Which one of them would you get along with? • Which one of them would you not get along with? • Use direct evidence from your homework to support your answer in both cases

Picturing the Valley of Ashes • Open to page 27 • Follow along as I read through the description • Identify ALL of the words that Fitzgerald uses to describe the “Valley of Ashes” in the first few paragraphs of chapter 2 • Write all of the description words on your piece of paper • Sketch out what this scene might look like • Think about it: • What purpose does this valley serve? • What are the things that are being described?
