Thai Silk Empress Si Ling Chi was the first person to discover silk as she was sitting under a tree in and a cocoon fell in her tea. Silk is made from the silkworm's cocoon, a silkworm is a type of moth. They cocoon is pulled from a mulberry bush and placed in a vat of boiling water, which separates the silk thread of the cocoon from the caterpillar inside it.. Raw silk is bumpy and irregular. Pure real silk cost about 6-10 times more than imitation silk which is made from polyester another type of material. That’s because real silk is hand made.
