Reading ‘[….] understanding, using, reflecting on and engaging with written texts, in order to achieve one’s goals, to develop one’s knowledge and potential, and to participate In society’ OECD 2009 • Focuses on the ability of learners to use information from texts in • situations which they encounter in ‘real life’. • Defined by 3 dimensions: • Format of the reading material • Type of reading task • Situation or the use for which the text was constructed
