History/ death penalty USA • the death penalty had been abolished in 1972 • but then it was adopt again in 1976 • since this day there have been about 1000 executions • on the 2nd of December 2005 there was the 1000th execution in America • about 3,500 people are still waiting for their execution • since the reintroduction about 200 people have been released from death row because they were innocent and this was proven • but innocent people have been killed anyway

  3. Political background • Since the 11th of September 2001 over 60% of the citizens in the USA approve of the death penalty • Therefore no politician wants to include the abolishment of the death penalty in his party programme

  4. FOR the crime rate will go down Future murderers are deterred the victim‘s relatives are satisfied the murderers get the same “punishment“ like their victims ->fair you can be sure: they never commit a crime again AGAINST everyone deserves a second chance sometimes innocent people are killed everyone has the right to live they are turning into murderers when they kill murderers some people are killed in a very cruel way nobody has the right to take somebody‘s life main arguments
