  6. Evaluation: Is Hoot a good example of a Realistic Fiction? • Carl Hiaasen did a great job creating realistic settings and events. When reading, the reader could visualize exactly what he was describing. The setting of Florida in the spring, was very realistic. Also, the bully was realistic. Carl made the story more interesting by having the bully pick on Roy multiple times. The ending was great. Roy and his two friends ended up saving the owls.
