  3. There are three branches of state government. Executive Branch – Governor Legislative Branch – General Assembly 3. Judicial Branch – Court System (Georgia Supreme Court

  4. State Executive Branch Governor: Nathan Deal FYI – local mayors 2013 – B. Alderman – Springfield and K. Lee - Rincon

  5. Georgia’s Legislative Branch Is called the General Assembly Makes laws for the entire state of Georgia Is made of two groups 1. State Representatives (180) 2. State Senators (56) Meet in the Capitol in our capital, Atlanta

  6. Georgia’s Judicial Branch Is called the Georgia Supreme Court. Interprets laws for the entire state of Georgia. Has 7 Supreme Court Justices who are elected to serve 6-year terms.

  7. The Unites States of America is our country. The government of the United States is called the National or Federal government.

  8. There are three branches of the government of the United States. Executive Branch – President Legislative Branch – Congress Judicial Branch – Court System (Supreme Court)

  9. Federal Executive Branch President Barack Obama 2008 and now   

  10. Federal Legislative Branch Is called Congress and meet in Capitol. Makes laws for the entire United States of America. Is made of two groups: 1. 100 U. S. Senators (2 from GA) 2. 435 U.S. Representatives (13 from GA)

  11. Federal Judicial Branch Is called the U. S. Supreme Court. Interprets laws for the entire United States. Has 9 U.S. Supreme Court Justices who are chosen to serve for life.
