  2. Pizarro’s Beginnings • In 1522 the accounts of the achievements of HernanCortes and the return of Pascual de Andagoya from his expedition fired Pizarro up with enthusiasm. • Pizarro placed himself at the head of the expedition to Panama when he collected unobtainable necessary funds.

  3. conquistador Francisco Pizarro was a Conquistador. A conquistador is Spanish for conqueror. Other conquistadors explored central and south America.

  4. Most Famous For… • Francisco Pizarro was most known for conquering the Inca empire.

  5. As Paul Harvey says… “And now for the rest of the story…” • Pizarro invited the ruler of the Inca empire to a dinner banquet. Once there, Pizarro ambushed him.   6. Pizarro’s death • At the end of his life, Pizarro was in conflict with friend and fellow conquistador, Diego Almagro. • After a battle over territory Pizarro killed Almagro. On June 26, 1541 members of Almagro’s party avenged his death by assassinating Pizarro.
