Abiotic factors of the savannah and tropical ocean • Savannah : fires, rainfall, drought, and soil. • Tropical Ocean : rocks, salt, sand, and water.
Biotic factors of savannah and tropical ocean • Savannah: Shrubs, tall grasses, trees, cheetahs, and gazelles • Tropical Ocean: Phytoplankton, sharks, seaweed, turtles, crabs, and kelp
Limiting factors of the tropical ocean • Temperature • Current Direction • Run-off from land
Limiting factors of savannah • There is little water to be found because of the dry climate. • The amount and form of precipitation can cause grass fires. • The dry season does not last very long, and plants die out.
Adaptations of organisms in tropical oceans • Sharks- They are able to breathe easily underwater. • They have teeth that are adapted to their types of meals. • They have a great sense of smell and sight which makes for easier hunting. • Crabs- They have hard shells which protect their internal organs. Eyes that can see both forward, and backwards. • Antennae that help sense prey and predators. • Jellyfish- Made up of 90% water, causing it to float easier. Large tentacles which help them put food into their mouths. They use their stinging cells to kill prey.
Adaptations of organisms in the savannah • Gazelles: Able to get water for the food they eat. • Capable to live out in sun due to capability of keeping fluids. • Zebra: Can run up to 40 mph to escape predators. • Theory says that zebra’s black and white stripes confuse predators. • Elephant: Flap their ears to stay cool in the heat • Tusks help them dig and fight • Long trunks help them pick up water so they can spray themselves to keep cool.
Symbiotic relationships in the savannah • A lion eats a wart hog . This is an example of predation. • A zebra and a hippo are fighting over grass. This is an example of competition. • There is a flea on an African Wild Dog. This is an example of parasitism.
Symbiotic Relationships of tropical ocean • A shark eats a bait of fish. This is an example of predation. • Plankton clinging onto a fish. This is an example of parasitism • A fish eats seaweed, and seaweed grow back. This is an example of commensalism.
