  3. Graduation Rate(s) • Record numbers of graduates • Advanced Placement & International Baccalaureate • Growth continues & scores increase • SAT Performance • Reading and math scores above state and national public school averages Academic Success

  4. Maryland School Assessment Increases • Percent of students with advanced scores in reading and math at the elementary and middle levels continue to improve • Washington Post High School Challenge • Six schools recognized Academic Success

  5. One third of last years seniors passed at least one AP exam during high school • Sixty-two percent of these exams scored a three and above • Student performance in reading, math and graduation rate were above state achievement targets • Ninety-six percent of the 2011 seniors passed Algebra, English and the Government HSAs, ninety-five percent passed the Biology HSA Performance Profile of Boonsboro Area Schools

  6. SAT test takers increased year over year • SAT reading scores increased by twenty points • SAT math scores increased by eleven points • SAT writing scores increased by twenty points • The annual drop-out rate was under one percent

Boonsboro Middle and Elementary met Annual Yearly Progress targets • Boonsboro Middle increased the number of proficient or advanced students in grade seven reading by three percent year over year • Boonsboro Elementary increased the number of proficient or advanced students in reading in grades four and five, grade three math scores have improved for three consecutive years and grade four math scores have improved for two consecutive years

  8. Boonsboro Elementary School has ninety-four percent of its students reading on or above grade level.

  9. We should celebrate the strength of our students and this community’s families.

  10. We should celebrate the work of the teachers, support staff and administration for their work with this community’s young people.

  11. In many ways the success the district and the schools in Boonsboro have given “birth” to a new set of challenges. Building on Success

  12. We must keep pace with more rapidly improving schools/districts. • We must close and eliminate achievement gaps.

  13. We must improve our absolute and relative performance across new measures and on all state measures.

  14. We must expand Career and Technology Education program opportunities, updated to reflect the realities of the job market, while strengthening the belief that there is dignity in all work.

  15. We must improve on our graduation rates. • We must increase the number of students taking honors, AP and IB courses and we must increase ACT and SAT participation and success.

  16. We must improve access to and competence with new and emerging technologies.
