Beam Requirments for Muon Physics at the Front End of a n Factory Klaus Jungmann (KVI) and Lee Roberts (Boston) ISS Plenary Meeting, RAL, 26 April 2006
Beam Reqirements for Muon Physics • High flux(statistics important!) • Low energy (< 20 MeV : rare decays, muonium) • High energy (several GeV : g-2, EDM) • Pulsed / continuous • Pulsed beams : me, muonium, applications,.. Important for background suppression - Continuous beam: meg, meee, … • Polarization (EDM, g-2) • Signals often proportional to ISS Plenary Meeting, RAL, 26 April 2006
Muon Physics Possibilities at a High Power Proton Driver i.e. 4 MW ISS Plenary Meeting, RAL, 26 April 2006
The EDM ring • run with both μ+ and μ-. • there must be regions of combined E+B along with separate focusing elements. • There needs to be a scheme to inject CW and CCW. Possible Muon EDM Ring Parameters ISS Plenary Meeting, RAL, 26 April 2006
