  2. AIMS • Who is going? • Safety • What do we need to take? • What do we do when the children arrive on Wednesday at George Street? • What is the accommodation like? • What to do when your child returns. • What will the children do while they are there?

  3. Who will be going? • 58 children from Year 6 • Teaching staff Miss Dabell, Mr Corbett and Miss Handley • Non-teaching staff Mrs Bramley, Mrs Price and Mrs Finch

  4. HEALTH & SAFETY • Prime concern at all times • Activities/visits risk assessed by us and venues • YHA staff on site at all times • Medical emergencies • Emergency procedures • Fire drill • Groups of 11/12 children to adults on trips

  5. What do we need to take? • Please take the following items in one luggage bag, with the label securely attached • A small bag for the coach journey – this should contain a water bottle the children can then re-fill • Cameras can be brought – please can these be named • All clothing to be named as well please NO MOBILES, ELECTRICALS OR EXPENSIVE TOYS PLEASE • Outdoor • Sports gear/tracksuit • T-shirts (at least three changes) • 2 Warm sweaters • Anorak, cagoule • Appropriate outdoor walking shoes/boots (not Wellingtons) • Spare air of shoes/trainers • Socks (several pairs please!) • Sun hat and sun block • Bin bag for soiled clothes • Indoor • Washing kit - soap, flannel, toothbrush & paste, 2 towels, brush/comb, talc etc. • Please do not bring any aerosols. • Nightwear • Changes of underwear • Inside soft shoes (not slippers) • Handkerchiefs/tissues • Book • Polythene bag for separating soiled washing

  6. What will the children do on Wednesday morning? • Eat breakfast and go to the toilet before arriving at the coach • Arrive at George Street Car Park at 8:45am • Leave holdalls/bags near the hold of the coach • Keep small bags to take on the coach • Meet group leader, and give them any additional money (£2). • Give any medication to Miss Dabell, in a named plastic bag with box still intact and information visible • Children board the coach with your group leader • Depart from George Street Car Park between 9am and 9:15am

  7. The Journey • One coach • Journey should take about 2 hours • Arrive between 11:15am and 11:30am • We will text to say we have arrived safely

  8. Bedrooms and bathrooms • One building for whole party – we are the only guests staying. • Girls will stay on the first floor, boys on the second floor • 2-8 children sharing – find out on arrival • Showers and toilets • Doors unlocked • If children need an adult during the night they should wake another child and go together to a teacher’s room • Teachers/adults sited at end of the corridors • Please inform us of any night time issues today

  9. Food! • Breakfast consists of cereal, toast, and a cooked breakfast with a selection of drinks. • Lunch will be a packed lunch, with a sandwich (chosen in advance by the children), piece of fruit, drink, snack bar and crisps. • Evening meal will be chosen next week in advance (the children wont be able to change their order we’re afraid). Vegetarian options available. • The centre will be informed of any dietary requirements. Please let us know today.

  11. What activities will we do? Thursday Blists Hill Museum (including candle dipping) Talent Show

  12. What activities will we do? Friday Leave Youth Hostel at 9am Cadbury World (Leaving at 2pm)

Evening Routine • After the evening activities you get ready for bed • You must stay in your rooms and not go into the rooms of other children • Cameras to be handed in to group leaders • Once every child in a room is ready for bed they can have hot chocolate and a biscuit. Any medicines will be given as required. • 10:00 lights go out

  14. Returning from Coalbrookdale • ETA at George Street is 3:45pm but please be there before if possible. • Any significant changes to this and the office will send a text message. • Collect children • Peace at last for the staff!
