VILLAGE ADOPTION:TARGETS UNORGANISED FOOD INDUSTRY A challenge facing the Indian food industry is that 69 percent of this sector is unorganized and majority of the people are still not aware and informed of the 'good processing practices', scientific storage practices, value addition techniques and techniques for enhancement of shelf life etc. This is where the Village Adoption Programme is most relevant.
VILLAGE ADOPTION: With a Sharpened Focus in coming year • Students remain in touch and guide villagers in while back to NIFTEM • Many more activities are planned: • -Demonstration of scientific facts through games and street corner plays (NukkadNatak), • -Motivating the female residents to schools • -Emphasizing hygiene and sanitation through exhibitions • -Train farmers and local youth about Food Processing and value addition • -Encourage villagers to form producer’s company and establish small Food Processing Units
NIFTEM believes • In teaching its students that upliftment of India at grass root level is an important social obligation, and • Looks forward to coming up with many success stories in this star programme!
