  1. HONOR TO WHOM HONOR IS DUE “Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor” (Rom. 13:7).

  2. Honor – Fallen On Hard Times • Parents forsake their responsibilities. • Elected officials are self seeking. • Corporate executives are dishonest. • No value placed on others property. • We cheat in school, on our taxes, and with one another. • We need to look at this commandment.

  3. The Higher Powers • They don’t deserve honor, and I won’t give it to them. • God says! Rom. 13:1; Acts 5:29; I Timothy 2:1-2; Acts 23:1-5. • How do we “force” ourselves to do this?

  4. Elders Who Rule Well • I Timothy 5:17 • Ever dealt with unqualified elders? • Elders with no “vision”? • Clueless elders? • Godly elders. • Caring, selfless elders? • Heb. 13:17

  5. Faithful Bible Teachers • Phil. 2:29; Col. 1:7. • Men or women who have sacrificed to teach us, pray for us, encourage us. • Most manifest weaknesses, but they set us on the road to salvation and usefulness. • Honor them. They aren’t “revered”, but respected.

  6. Honor Your Wives • I Peter 3:7 • Honor your husband – vs. 1-6 • In a family we know each others mistakes and weaknesses. • How do you honor someone who isn’t perfect? • Recognize their sacrifices!

  7. Children, Honor Your Parents • Eph. 6:1-3 – from Ex. 20 • “But they won’t let me…” • Does “honor” imply obedience. • Parents should attempt to respect their children, too.

  8. Widows “Indeed” Are To Be Honored • I Timothy 5:3, 16 • Describe a “widow indeed.” • Is she worthy of honor? How, exactly, do we show this? • Above all, honor God. He certainly deserves it.
