Buffalo Trail Scout Ranch – in West Texas • Who: 1st and 2nd year scouts + scout leadership • What: MB Camp + Mid Adventure • Merit badges (e.g. horsemanship, astronomy, and advanced climbing) • Advancement to 1st Class • Mid Adventure (ages 13+) • Cavalry Adventure Camp • Cavalcade Horseback Experience • Travel by chartered bus • When: June (15)16-22 • Cost:  about $700 • Coordinator:  John Walker Photograph by Colby Lysne Space is Available – Scouts and Adults

Camp Powhatan – Blue Ridge Scout Res, Va • Who: 1st and 2nd year scouts + scout leadership • What: Merit badge camp in the valley formed by Big Macks Creek • Merit badges + advancement to 1st Class • The group will fly to Va (TBD), and travel by bus to camp • When: July 20-27 • Cost:  about $1000 • Leader: Robert Lombardi Space is Available – Scouts and Adults

  4. Claytor Lakes Aquatics Base – Blue Ridge Scout Res, Va • Who: 13 by the time of camp • What: Mid-level adventure • Scouts looking for thrills on the water and merit badge opportunities • Wakeboarding (14), scuba cert (14), sailing, motorboating, waterskiing, kayaking, rowboats • Fly to Va (TBD), bus to camp • When: July 20-27 • Cost:  about $1000 • Adult leader: Robert Lombardi Space is Available – Scouts and Adults

  5. High Knoll Trail – Blue Ridge Scout Res, Va • Who: 12.5 by the time of camp • What: Mid-level backpacking adventure • Backpacking from outpost to outpost in the mornings • Outposts: horseback riding, mountain boarding, paintball, rock climbing, black powder shooting • Fly to Va (TBD), bus to camp • When: July 20-27 • Cost:  about $1000 • Adult leader: Robert Lombardi Space is Available – Scouts and Adults

  6. Mountain Man Camp – Blue Ridge Scout Res, Va • Who: 13 by the time of camp • What: Mid-level adventure • Travel back in time to 18th century Appalachia. • Dress, eat, live like the Long Hunters who explored Va’s frontier • Cook over open fire, muzzle-loading riflery, make your own hunting knife and sheath, blacksmithing, wilderness survival • Fly to Va (TBD), bus to camp • When: July 20-27 • Cost:  about $1000 • Adult leader: Robert Lombardi Space is Available – Scouts and Adults

  7. Colorado River Canoeing – in the Texas Hill Country • Who: Scouts 12+ • What: Canoeing in the Hill Country • 2½ days of canoeing • Must pass BSA swim test • Travel by Van/PV • When: July 12-16 • Cost:  about $70 • Coordinator:  Karl Dahm Space is Available – Scouts and Adults

  8. Buffalo River Canoeing – Camp Orr in Arkansas • Who:  Scouts with Canoeing Merit Badge that are 14+ or completed the 8th Grade  • What:  Week long canoe camping trek down the Buffalo River in the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas • Travel by van • When:  June 22-30 • Cost: $600 • Coordinators: Mark Parenti & Valerie McNeel Space is Available – Scouts and Adults

Galveston Sea Base • Who: Age 13 and up • What: The group will rotate through small and medium boat sailing and sea kayaking, learning associated skills and enjoying Galveston Bay • No prior sailing or kayaking experience necessary • Possible sailing and/or kayaking merit badges, but no guarantees • Must pass BSA swimmer test • Travel by personal auto • When: June 24-29 • Cost:  about $600 • Leader:  Tre Fischer Space is Available – Scouts & Adults

  10. NATIONAL JAMBOREE • Who: Age 13 and up • When: July 12-23 • Contact: ZigWerla Uncertain space available

Trip Bolivia and Patagonia Service Adventure • Who: Mature Star- 13 by trip or have completed Philmonttrek • What: One trip: 2 activities: Service to Amistad Mission in Bolivia and Winter backpacking trek in Patagonia-Torres del Paine Route W • When: July 20 to Aug. 5 • Cost: Est: $2300-2500 • Travel: Tentative- Santiago, Chile; LaPaz, Bolivia; Punta Arenas Chile and Santiago, Chile • Preparation: Extensive skill requirements to be completed Limited space available

  12. Sea Base (Florida Keys) • Who: Completed 8th grade or age 14 by camp • What: Scuba Diving, 11 dives along the Florida Keys, including 1 night dive • When: July 17-24 • Travel: Fly to Ft Lauderdale and shuttle to camp • Cost:  about ~$1500 • Adult coordinator:  Sue Lombardi Waiting List Only

  13. Philmont (in the mountains of New Mexico) • Who: Completed 8th grade or age 14 by camp • What: 12-day backpacking over >50 miles; rafting trip near Taos initial day • When: June 14- 27 • Cost:  about $1550 • Fly to Albuquerque • Leader:  James Cauble Limited space available

  14. Glacier National Park Backpacking • High-level, Post Philmont Trek (14+, 9th grade+) • When: 8/3-10 or 8/10-17 • Cost: ~$1500 • Ross Spence and Vernon Jones
