  1. Seek God Within WYC II Discourse Nov 21, 1999

  2. Unity – Ideal Sai Instruments • You are all one irrespective of the countries you belong to. Bulbs may vary, but the current is the same. Likewise, countries, bodies and feelings may vary, but the principle of Atma is one and the same in all. • You can experience bliss only when you render service keeping in mind the Unity of all beings. • Spend your life serving others. Do not crave for power and position. One who is not a Sevaka (humble worker) cannot become a Nayaka (leader). • Only young men and women are capable of restoring the declining human values. • Let your behavior be exemplary wherever you are…Be always immersed in the divine.

  3. Unity – Sub-values • Selfless-service – you are born to serve • Seek God within – whatever you do, it is God’s work • Adhere to Truth – the entire creation has originated from truth and ultimately merges in truth

  4. Selfless Service • Man does meditation without knowing what it is. They feel like they are meditating on God not knowing who God really is. True spiritual practice lies in joining hands with rest of the community and working for the progress of the land. • Just as it is impossible for a newborn to attend degree classes, so also it is not possible to attain supreme state of love instantly. One has to gradually progress by undertaking spiritual practices. • It is only through service can one redeem himself. Serve without any expectation of reward.

  5. Seek God Within • Heart is the alter of God. Do not pollute it with evil thoughts and feelings. • Whatever you do, it is God’s work. For example, the process of inhaling and exhaling is in itself a spiritual practice. The process of inhaling is associated with the sound ‘So’ (that) and exhaling, with the sound ‘Ham’ (I). ‘Soham’ means ‘I am that (God). ‘So’ symbolizes divinity and ‘Aham’ signifies Ahamkara (ego). The process of inhaling and exhaling repeats itself 21,600 times each day. It means your inner voice is reminding you 21,600 times a day that you are God.

  6. Techniques and Sai Challenges – Seeking God Within Techniques: • Give up negative thoughts and develop positive feelings • Do not hate, harm or criticize anybody. He is a noble one, who conducts himself without hurting others and himself is not troubled in the process. • We are responsible for the pain and pleasure that befalls us • We should not feel sad if someone criticizes us, because criticizing others amounts to criticizing one’s self as the same Atma exists in all. Identify self with the Atma, not the body. Sai Challenges: • In order to have sacred thoughts, give up the vices like consumption of non-vegetarian food, smoking and drinking intoxicants. • Use one of the techniques to practice Constant Integrated Awareness ( realize that I am Brahman (God)): namasmarana, selfless service, live in love, practicing unity of thought, word & deed

  7. Truth • A true human being is one who adheres to Sathya (truth), Dharma (righteousness) and Thyaaga (sacrifice). Truth is Neethi (morality), Righteousness is Reethi (procedure) and Sacrifice is Khyaathi (fame). • Speak truth, speak pleasingly, do not speak truth which is palatable. Today the whole world is engulfed in troubles and turmoil on account of injustice, falsehood and unrighteousness. In order to uphold morality, one should adhere to truth. This is why it is said, sathyam bruyaath (speak truth)..this is the primary duty of man. • There is no greater spiritual practice then adhering to the principles of truth and love. Truth and love are the synonyms of God. Without these two there is no point in undertaking spiritual practices.

  8. Techniques and Sai Challenges – Adherence to Truth Techniques: • Carry a small photograph of Swami’s with you all the time. Whenever you feel that you are about to not adhering to truth, remember that Swami is watching you! Do you want to do some thing that Swami does not like? • Constantly practice on discriminating your thoughts to have only good thoughts and intentions • Learn the meanings of some of the words in devotional songs. Make your thoughts dwell on these images during devotional service. Sai Challenges: • Before going to bed, self-assess your thoughts, words and actions throughout the day and consciously work towards correcting yourself. • Read good books or Sai Literature. Use these positive text in your constant pursuit of adherence to truth.

  9. Jesus said… All are one my dear son, be alike to everyone. All are born of the same mother earth, breathe the same air and drink the same water. Eschew all differences and live in unity. Recognize the unity in diversity and act accordingly.

  10. Swami said… Young men and women… you become divine once you safeguard your physical, mental and spiritual powers. Let your body be engaged in good actions, mind entertain noble thoughts and intellect merge in the Divine.

  11. Jai Sai Ram Where there is faith, there is love, Where there is love, there is peace,Where there is peace, there is truth, Where there is truth, there is God,Where there is God, there is bliss.
