  3. Overview Of Paediatric Ophthalmologist A pediatric optometrist is an eye doctor (abbreviated "OD") who specializes in the eye health of children. They have additional training, education, and experience working with children, including performing child-friendly eye exams and testing, as well as recognizing and treating child-specific eye diseases.

  5. VISION ASSESSMENT: Specific abilities are required to evaluate a child's eyesight, particularly in preschool children. For different ages, different methods are employed. MOTILITY EXAMINATIONS: Quantitative assessments of ocular misalignment are required for strabismus medical and surgical therapy. EXAM UNDER ANESTHESIA (EUA): This may be required to identify and/or treat diseases in individuals who will not allow adequate examination/treatment in the office.

BIOMICROSCOPY AND DILATED FUNDUS EXAMINATIONS: Investigate eye diseases linked to systemic diseases, genetics, and neurologic pathology.

  7. MEDICAL TREATMENTS Eye infections, chalazia, glaucoma treated with topical and systemic medications. Prescriptions for spectacles or contact lenses. Amblyopia ("lazy eye") treatment options include glasses, patching, & pharmacologic medication.

  8. SURGICAL PROCEDURES • Strabismus is treated through eye muscle surgery. • Irrigation and probe for congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction (blocked tear duct). • Paediatric cataract extraction with intraocular lenses (IOLs). • Chalazia removal.
