  3. World’s Largest Cities At what point in history did a city in the Western Hemisphere make the top ten list? In the year 500 CE, Teotihuacan, Mexico had a population of 125,000, becoming #6 on the Largest World Cities list. It did not appear on any other list after this, and it was 1900 before any other Western Hemisphere city appeared.
