Switching On The IOTs • Press (Hold down) • Aux ON • SB ON • Filaments need 10 minutes • Check ion current is <1µA • HV ON • HV will slowly rise to 27kV, ~600mA • Check ion current is <1µA • Allow 10 minutes for the quiescent currents to stabilise • Switch RF ON ALICE RF System Andy Moss/Alan Wheelhouse
RF On • Trace seen on oscilloscope • RF raised on each IOT to provide the required gradient for each of the Linac and Booster cavities • Check ion current is <1µA • Ditto for the solid state amplifier on the Buncher cavity ALICE RF System Andy Moss/Alan Wheelhouse
RF Control – Linac & Booster Cavities Main Menu → RF → RF Linac 1 • RF power adjusted using the gradient • RF phase adjustment (station phase) • All other controls are fixed ALICE RF System Andy Moss/Alan Wheelhouse

Operation • Quench • RF should switch off • If not immediately switch off rf press HV ON • Trips • Re-apply • Constant trips seek assistance • IOT arc detector trips need to be reset at the PLC • An additional screen will be added in the future ALICE RF System Andy Moss/Alan Wheelhouse
