  4. Loading Data From Excel Spreadsheet file Select File→ Open… OR using the Open Tool Bar

  5. Loading Data From a GenStat file Select Data→ Load → Data file… OR Select File→ Open… OR using the Open Tool Bar

  6. Loading Data From a text file Select Data→ Load → ASCII file…

  7. Formatting variable names Spread → Column → Attributes/Formats (pressing F9) Type the variable label in the Description box press convert to change it to factor or very easily by right clicking in each of the variables and clicking Convert to Factor .

  8. Data Structures & Spreadsheet Data Display Menu: … Variables • Factors (!)

  9. Exploring data Graphics → Histogram

  10. Boxplot Graphics → Boxplot …

  11. Scatterplot Graphics → Graphics Wizard … then select desired graph here scatterplot

  12. Summary statistics Choose Stats → Summary Statistics → Summarise Contents of Variates.
