New Partnership: Jackson Laboratory • The Jackson Laboratory planning new medical and education village in Collier County • Within 10 years, study says 7,500 jobs, $500 million in annual economic impact • USF is Jackson’s first medical partner • Jackson: world-recognized experts in mammalian genetics, genomics research • Jackson and USF will collaborate on initiatives to advance personalized medicine

Jackson Laboratory • USF, Jackson plan to collaborate in 3 key areas: • RESEARCH: bioinformatics; cancer; Alzheimer’s and neurosciences; metabolic diseases; emphasis on personalized medicine • EDUCATION: Leaders in educating students in personalized health, pharmacogenomics, bioinformatics; develop programs in emerging health professions, continuing medical education • CLINICAL CARE: Partnership to team up with other health organizations to develop a clinical campus to provide personalized medicine and health care; will create continuum of care, from home therapies to inpatient and outpatient services

  10. BIRD • Binational Industrial Research and Development Foundation • Tel Aviv, Israel • Funds projects to allow joint development and commercialization of a product by an Israeli/American team • USF Health/Simbionix $700,000 grant • develop a laparoscopic hysterectomy module for simulator
