Special Primary education: 8 types • Type 1: children having a mild mental handicap or a developmental delay (not for nursery school) • Type 2: children having a moderate or severe mental handicap • Type 3: for children with serious emotional and/or behavioural problems • Type 4: pupils with a physical handicap
Special Primary education: 8 types • Type 5: children who have to stay in a hospital or other medical institution • Type 6: children who are blind or visually impaired • Type 7: deaf and hearing-impaired children, for whom communication is of major importance (also autistic children) • Type 8: pupils with serious learning disabilities (not for nursery school or secondary education)
Special secondary education: 4 training forms • Training form 1: offering social training with the aim of integration into a protected environment • Training form 2: offering general and social training with the aim of integration into a protected environment and work situation • Training form 3: offering social and vocational training with the aim of integration into a regular environment and work situation • Training form 4: offering preparation for study in higher education and integration into active life.
