Windows Server Components are separate applications for the OS itself • You must install OS roles based on what your server is going to do • Not all services or roles are required on every service – Example – A domain controller doesn’t always need IIS • Pick the roles based on what your specific server is going to be doing Roles

  12. Features are individual components of roles but are not always required for the roles themselves • For example – Microsoft IIS includes an FTP Server which may be installed, but is not required for IIS to run Features
