  2. What is the purpose of the event? • Exploratory – to test internal and/or external interest • One in a series of events • To develop a new project • To kick-start an established project • To provide an avenue for dissemination at the end of a project

  3. Who will be attending? • Staff? • Students? • Non-academics? • Mixture? • Warwick only or external delegates too?

  4. Scale and nature of the event • Number of delegates? • Number of speakers? • Length of event? • Venue – formal or informal? • Who will expect expenses to be paid? • Who will pay their own way?

  5. Internal Funding • Department • IAS • GRP • RDF • International Office • HRF • HRC

  6. External Funding • Build into a larger Research Grant or Research Fellowship application: - Research Council Research Grant/Fellowship (e.g. AHRC/ESRC/EPSRC, etc.) - Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship - British Academy Postdoctoral Research Fellowship - Royal Society Fellowship - Marie Curie Fellowship - ERC Starting Grant

  7. External Funding • Dedicated event funding: - British Academy Small Grant - AHRC Research Networking Grant - Leverhulme International Network - Royal Society Capacity Building Grant (with Africa) - Royal Society Scientific Seminars (with Africa & India)
