  3. Auld Lang Syne

  4. "Auld Lang Syne," an old Scotch tune, literally means “old long ago,” or “the good old days.” It is sung at the stroke of midnight in almost every English-speaking country in the world to bring in the new year.

  8. How to Make New Year’s Resolutions

  9. We live in a throw-away society, and even our resolutions are not immune. Most people fail at keeping them. On average, only about 20% of us keep our New Year’s resolutions. But don’t let the statistics get you down. By following the tips below, you’ll be better prepared to fall into the successful 20% category.

  10. Tips for Making New Year’s Resolutions • Limit your number of promises. • Choose a reachable goal. • Avoid choosing a resolution that you’ve failed at achieving year after year. • Create a plan. • Break the goal into smaller goals. • Reward yourself with each milestone. • Ask friends and family members to help you. • Get professional assistance.

  11. Make Your New Year’s Resolutions

  12. As the New Year is just starting and Chinese New Year is around the corner, it’s a chance for all of us to start over and make resolutions for what we want to change or improve.

  13. As mentioned above, the key to making our resolutions work is setting reachable goals. For example, instead of trying to lose 50 pounds in one year, try to lose 10 pounds a year over five years. Keeping that in mind, my New Year’s resolutions are as follows:

  14. My New Year’s Resolutions • Eat more vegetables and fruit. • Go jogging twice a week. • Practice Spanish three times a week. • Get more organized. • Smile more. • Spend more time with my family and friends. • Volunteer my time and help others.
