IAB YouTube Video Contest • Started in 2009 • Initiative Objectives: • Promote the IE profession to high school students, teachers and guidance counselors • Encourage freshmen enrollment into Industrial Engineering university programs • Increase the engagement of IIE University Chapters • How its done: • Coordinated by IAB YouTube Contest Committee • IIE University Chapters are challenged to create a YouTube video presentation that inform and excites high school students about Industrial Engineering • All submissions are reviewed and judged • Winners are announced at the Annual IIE Conference
IAB YouTube Video Contest • The prize money is raised by donation's from IAB members & several Professional IIE Chapters: • $1,000 for 1st place • $500 for 2nd place • $200 for 3rd place • Feedback from numerous University advisors have told us that it is now common to have first year students say they selected IE as a major after finding these YouTube videos
IAB Recognition & Awards Committee • The IAB group has been encouraging our IAB members to nominate co-workers for IIE Industry-related Awards • Several Industry-related Awards were identified, and some easy to follow instructions were sent out several times during the year • The IAB group was somewhat successful this year in increasing the number of Award Nominations from Industry • We also expanded our efforts to other IIE Industry groups (CIE, SEMS, SHS, & Corporate Partners)
Professional Networking Exercise • ~10 minutes • Identify another member in the room with your same identifying # • Give them your 1-2 minute quick intro (elevator pitch) including: • Name • Organization (company or school) • Job, role or area of focus /interest • How you are involved/plugged into IIE (IAB, Division, Chapter, Session Presenter, Committee, etc.) • Most fun / interesting experience to date at the conference
