Spodek means ‘saucer’ inEnglish, but itisjust a sports and concerts hall whichcanhold 11,500 people. In thepictures we cansee Spodek atnight and atdaytime.It’sthe most popular attractioninour city. Thebuildingisbeautifullyilluminatedatnight, so that symbol of Katowice lookslike a spaceshipor a UFO.

  9. Spodek Thisis a multipurpose arena complexin Katowice. In Spodek youcan go on an ice-rink, watcha matchof basketball, volleyballorice-hockey. Therearemusicconcerts, many parties and circusperformances, too. A lot of famouspeopleperformedin ‘Spodek’. For exampleon the1st of March 2010 we had a concert of a famouscomposer of electronicalmusic Jean-Michel Jarre.

  10. Worth seeing Parachute Tower Katowiceis a 50 meter tall lattice parachute tower built in 1937 for training parachute jumps, locatedin Kościuszko Park. It was used in the first days of World War II by 73rd regiment of infantry as an observation tower.Thisistheonly one towerlocatedin Poland. Ifyoualreadyin Kościuszko Park, youcanvisitChurch of St. Michael Archangel, whichis a littlechurchmade of wood. It was builtin 1510 in Syrynia, but in 1938 it was moved to Katowice.
