  2. Mission and vision • The mission and vision of JCUMC Christian Education is to build a firm foundation by the study of the Word and cultivating relationships between members, the world around us and Jesus Christ.

  3. Scripture • Proverbs 4:4-5a, 7 4 Let your heart retain my words; Keep my commands, and live. 5a Get wisdom! Get understanding! 7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.

Training- bwcumc Webinars Keeping Children and Youth Safe – Webinars • In our continued call and commitment to serving children and youth through equipping leaders, this series of webinars were recorded for use in annual conferences, districts, and congregations of the United Methodist Church to support the reduction of risk of abuse in the Church. It is the hope that these webinars will be used in group settings for new and revitalizing congregations. • Basics of Safe Sanctuaries - Please complete by 10/31/12 • Leigh Meekins, Doctoral Candidate in Education • Leigh addresses the basics of Safe Sanctuaries for those who are new to ministry with children and youth, or who need a refresher on • the basics • Identifying and Responding to Bullying in the Christian Context- Please complete by 11/30/12 • Melanie Gordon, Director, Ministry with Children, GBOD • Melanie addresses issues around bullying as it applies to elementary age children, and how the church can move into being proactive • and responsive

  12. training Cyberbullying and Teen on Teen Violence- Please complete by 12/31/12 Chris Wilterdink, Young People’s Western Jurisdiction Staff, GBOD Chris addresses how media plays a distinctive role in safety, and the reality of violence among teens. • Addition educational training and retreats will be forthcoming.

  14. budget • We do not currently have a budget. All financial requests for purchases must be made through Sis. Angela or Sis. Katrina in her absence. Some activities or items may be subject to the approval of the Church Council. • There is one item that has been put forth and approved: $1600 for VBS 2013. • We will be encouraging our children to participate in fund raisers so the activities are self supported.
