  2. Overview of CACC-1Software Engineering CSE435Michigan State UniversityFall 2012 Team members: Project Manager: Mr. Hayden Boroski Facilitator: Mr. Zach Kuzmanic Customer Liaison: Mr. Joe Greer Configuration Manager: Mr. Daniel Bachelis Customer: Mr. William Milam, Ford Motor Company Instructor: Dr. Betty H.C. Cheng* *Please direct all inquiries to the instructor. http://www.cse.msu.edu/~cse435/Projects/F2012/CACC-1/web/

  3. Project Overview Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control (CACC) A safety and convenience feature. Autonomously controls speed and distance relative to other vehicles. Increases safety using data provided by the infrastructure and other vehicles. Allows for less stress on the driver during long trips. http://www.cse.msu.edu/~cse435/Projects/F2012/CACC-1/web/

  4. Overview of Features Platoon Management – joining, creating and maintaining. Securely identify vehicles with CACC systems Exchange of sensory information over DSRC http://www.cse.msu.edu/~cse435/Projects/F2012/CACC-1/web/

  5. Overview of Safety Ability to apply emergency braking Audible alerts to the driver Constant contact with the infrastructure Coordination with other vehicles http://www.cse.msu.edu/~cse435/Projects/F2012/CACC-1/web/

  6. Domain Research Investigated system components and sub-components, safety mechanisms, safety features, and failure conditions for passenger and commercial vehicles. Applied domain knowledge to develop safety mechanisms, security features, failure conditions and constraints. Project Constraints: Audio and visual safety alerts Radar transponder to confirm vehicle ID Camera and radar on front of vehicle DSRC for communication with vehicles and infrastructure Operate only on limited-access highways http://www.cse.msu.edu/~cse435/Projects/F2012/CACC-1/web/
