  13. Level One: Position (Rights) • People follow you because they have to • Your influence will not go beyond the lines of your job description. • The longer you stay here, the higher the turnover & the lower the morale

  14. Level Two: Permission (Relationships) • People follow you because they want to. • People will follow you beyond your stated authority. This level allows work to be fun. • Caution: Staying in this level without rising to the 3rd level will allow motivated people to become restless.

  15. Level Three: Production (Results) • People follow you because of what you have done. • This is where success is felt by most people. • They like you & what you are doing. • Problems are fixed with little effort because of momentum.

  16. Level Four: People Development (Reproduction) • People follow you because of what you have done for them. • This is where long range growth occurs. • Your commitment to continued development will ensure ongoing growth to the organization & people. • Do whatever you can to achieve & stay on this level.

  17. Level Five: Personhood (Respect) • People follow you because of what you are and what you represent. • This step is reserved for leaders who have spent years developing people & organizations. • Few make it to this level! • Those who do are bigger than life.
