Clip In Hair Extensions - Kylisstof

1. RESTORING OLD CLIP IN HAIR EXTENSIONS So you’ve been wearing your clip in hair extensions for a few months on a pretty regular basis, and as you’ve washed them over time you’ve found them losing the luster, silkiness or softness that they had the day you took them out of their box. The bad news is that all textiles deteriorate to some degree over time. The good news however is that, with some TLC, there are definitely ways to bring new life to your clip in extensions, even after they’ve come to look a little ratchet over time. The first step in my own process is to apply some coconut oil to each weft, following which I’ll brush each weft out with the Wet Brush, which I’ve personally found to be the best detangling brush on the market. When I’m doing this I carefully brush out each weft separately, starting from the tips and working my way toward the roots. Once each weft is totally tangle-free, I use a boar bristle brush to brush out each weft so as to evenly distribute the coconut oil across the entire weft. Once the wefts are tangle-free, I mask them! I put a good amount of professional grade hair mask in the palm of may hand and I run it through each weft so as to fully saturate it. Once that’s done I take my wet brush and carefully brush through each weft, following which I use a fine comb to carefully brush through each weft until each strand of hair in each weft has been saturated by the hair mask. I then wrap each weft into a towel and let it sit for forty five minutes to an hour. After the timer rings I remove each weft from the towel and separately rinse each weft off with freezing cold water so as to seal the cuticles, following which I delicately wring the water out of each weft using a microfiber towel. Once the wefts are completely towel dried, I take my favorite professional salon quality oil treatment (I only use the original, Moroccanoil® Treatment) and a smidge of smoothing cream and I gently apply these products, focusing especially on the bottom half of each weft, following which I brush out each weft, first with my Wet Brush®, followed by my boar bristle brush. Then I’ll spray both sides of each weft with a heat styling protectant product, focusing especially on the tips, followed by a final brush through. After this is complete I’ll hang them on a clamp pant hanger to air dry. When they wefts are totally dry, I take a steam iron (cotton setting), lay each weft one by one on an ironing board, and iron them out straight, brushing through with my wet brush the same way I would if I were straightening them with a hair iron. I’ll iron each weft until it’s perfectly silky, soft and straight. Sometimes, I may end up with a bit of excess oil near the tips, which I address by spraying a tiny bit of dry shampoo on each side of each weft, running my hands through it a few times in order to allow for the extra oil to be absorbed, following which I’ll run my boar bristle brush through each weft, followed by a few more extra passes of the clothes iron. Once I’m satisfied that the extra oil has come off, I’ll take the whole set, lay it flat on the ironing board and give

2. it five or six more passes of the iron until it looks nearly like it did the shipped out of our manufacturing facility. What I just described is definitely a pain in the butt, and will typically take you about half a day from start to finish. But if you have the staying power, then doing this will truly help you get the most out of each set of clip in hair extensions.
