  1. The Gospel that was preached to Abraham Understand God’s plan and purpose with you through his promises to Abraham and their link to Christ. Discover what God's unbreakable promises are and how they impact you

  2. What was the Gospel (Good News) that was preached to Abraham? • And the Scripture foreseeing that God would justify the nations by faith, preached the gospel before to Abraham: "All the nations will be blessed" "in you." - Gal 3:8

  3. God’s Promise to Abraham • And Jehovah had said to Abram, • Go out from your land and from your kindred, and from your father's house, to the land which I will show you. • And I will make of you a great nation. • And I will bless you and make your name great; and you will be a blessing. • And I will bless those who bless you, and curse the one despising you. • And in you all families of the earth shall be blessed. [Gen 12:1-3]

  4. God’s Promise to Abraham – Again (After Lot takes the better Land) • And after Lot had separated from him, Jehovah said to Abram, • Now lift up your eyes and look northward and southward and eastward and westward from the place where you are. • For all the land which you see I will give to you, and to your seed always. • And I will make your seed as the dust of the earth, so that if a man can count the dust of the earth, then your seed also will be counted. • Rise up! Walk through the land, in its length and in its breadth, for I will give it to you. [Gen 13:14-17]

  5. Did Abraham receive the promise? • Did he receive the land that God promised? • Who is the “seed” of Abraham who will inherit “for ever”

  6. Abraham @ 90 yearsStill not received the promises • And when Abram was ninety nine years old, Jehovah appeared to Abram and said to him, I am the Almighty God! Walk before me and be perfect; … • And God spoke with him, saying, As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations. • And your name no longer shall be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham. For I have made you a father of many nations. … • And I will establish My covenant between Me and you, and your seed after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be a God to you and to your seed after you. • And I will give to you and to your seed after you the land of your sojourning, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession and I will be their God. [Gen 17:1-8]

  7. Abraham’s son Isaac Inherits the Promise but NOT the actual fulfillment of it

  8. And Jehovah appeared to him and said, Do not go down into Egypt; stay in the land which I shall say to you. Reside in this land, and I will be with you and bless you, for to you and to your seed I will give all these lands. And I will cause to rise My oath which I swore to your father Abraham. And I will increase your seed like the stars of the heavens, and I will give to your seed all these lands. And all the nations of the earth shall bless themselves in your Seed, [Gen 26:1-4] Promise of Land Repeated God’s Promise to Isaac • Promise again refers to “seed”. So Isaac was not the fulfillment. • Inherits the Promise but not its fulfillment • Promise applies to all nations

  9. Abraham and Isaac did not inherit land Why? Was God not able to keep his promise?

  10. And, behold, Jehovah stood above it and said, I am Jehovah the God of your father Abraham, and the God of Isaac; the land on which you are lying, I will give it to you and to yourseed. And your seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and you shall spread to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south; and all the families of the earth shall be blessed in you and in your Seed. [Gen 28:13-14] Promise of Land Repeated God’s Promise to Jacob – Abraham’s Grandson • Promise again refers to “seed”. So Isaac and Jacob were not the fulfillment. They were only carriers of the promise • Promise applies to all nations

  11. Stephen’s Record • The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham, being in Mesopotamia before he lived in Haran, and said to him, • "Go out from your land and from your kindred," "and come into a land which I will show to you." • Then going out from the land of the Chaldeans, he lived in Haran. And after his father died, God moved him from there into this land in which you now live. • And He did not give to him an inheritance in it, not even a foot breadth. And He promised to give it to him for a possession and to his seed after him, [Act 7:1-5]

  12. What do these promises mean? • Who is the seed? • Abraham’s seed • Isaac’s seed • Jacob’s seed • Why were Abraham, Isaac and Jacob promised land (Canaan) but they never inherited? • How can the families of the all the world be blessed through Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and their seed?

  13. These Promises is the Gospel Hope Based on Faith • Having been called out by faith, Abraham obeyed to go forth to a place which he was going to receive for an inheritance; and he went out not understanding where he went. • By faith he resided as a foreigner in a land of promise, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the joint-heirs of the same promise; • for he looked forward to a city having the foundations of which the builder and maker is God. [Heb 11:8-10] • We too put our hope • And trust in God awaiting • The kingdom of God to • Be setup on earth. • Abraham was told to look • North, South, East and • West • The earth will be the future • Kingdom of God

  14. What was the Gospel message that was preached to Abraham? • The Promise (Hope of Salvation) was only to Abraham and his seed. • How can an Indian then be saved? • Even "as Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness," • know, then, that those of faith, these are sons of Abraham. • And the Scripture foreseeing that God would justify the nations by faith, preached the gospel before to Abraham: "All the nations will be blessed" "in you.“ [Gal 3:6-8] • If we believe (have faith) • then we are Abraham’s children • As Abraham’s children we • can inherit the promises • The Promises of God to • Abraham and his seed is the • Gospel Message of Salvation • and covers: • Eternal Life and • inheritance in God’s • kingdom for all nations

  15. There will be weeping and gnashing of the teeth when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but yourselves being thrust outside. And they will come from east and west, and from north and south, and will recline in the kingdom of God. [Luk 13:28-29] Seek God’s Kingdom that was promised to Abraham But seek the kingdom of God and all these things will be added to you. [Luk 12:31] Jesus also preached the same Kingdom

  16. Who is the Seed? • that the blessing of Abraham might be to the nations in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. • Brothers, I speak according to man, a covenant having been ratified, even among mankind, no one sets aside or adds to it. • But the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his Seed (it does not say, And to seeds, as of many, but as of one, "And to your Seed," which is Christ). [Gal 3:14-16]

  17. How can we be part of the Gospel hope given to Abraham and his Seed? – By Faith • for you are all sons of God • through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many as were baptized into Christ, you put on Christ. • There cannot be Jew nor Greek, there is no slave nor freeman, there is no male and female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are of Christ, then you are a seed of Abraham, even heirs according to promise. [Gal 3:26-29] You are invited to be part of God’s Kingdom

  18. Will we really go to heaven when we die? • What was the hope of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob? • These all died by way of faith, not having received the promises, but seeing them from afar, and being persuaded, and having embraced and confessed that they are aliens and tenants on the earth. [Heb 11:13] • Jesus taught • Blessed are the meek! For they shall inherit the earth. [Mat 5:5]
