Workforce Development & Recruitment SCA Training Programme update • Core, specialist and management short courses • 2011-12: 139 courses with 2,143 places • 2012-13: 123 courses with 1,968 places • Cost per place has decreased from £56 to £54 (includes planning & commissioning, trainers, venues, refreshments, admin, IT, quality assurance, evaluation)
Take-up and Developments • Programme revised – CQC requirements, increased personalisation & provider priorities • 15 approved training suppliers • Co-facilitation with experts by experience • Take up risen from 74% to 83% places available over last year (approx 38% dom care) • Improved administration & on-line booking • Participant quality ratings consistently excellent – good
Recent “alarm bells” • Until recently, DNAs & advance cancellations steadily reducing BUT • DNAs and advance cancellations have doubled since June; 57% DNAs from Dom Care • Anecdotal evidence of increasing recruitment problems in domiciliary care in Surrey
