  21. How it might be done ? • Agreement with and between Councils • Set up implementation company • Apply for planning permission • Detailed engineering designs • Private capital raised • Construction and commissioning • Operation • Company gets same fare support as buses

  22. What LONDON gets: • First tramway at no cost to public purse • Fulfills sustainability aims • Proven to get people out of cars • More efficient than buses • Less noise and air pollution • Renewable generation = No greenhouse gases • Improves Oxford Street Shopping scene

What next ? • Agreement to progress • Implementation Company set up • Submits Planning Application • Consults with frontagers and community • Gets agreement for delivery timetable • Begins construction (from Lime House ?) • Commissions and opens service (by 2012) • A Win - Win offer for TfL & the Councils
