DHCP adalah protocol yang berbasisarsitektur client/server yang dipakaiuntukmemudahkanpengalokasianalamat IP dalamsatujaringan. • Jikajaringanlocal yang tidakmenggunakan DCHP harusmemberikanalamat IP kepadasemua computer secara manual. • Jika DCHP dipasangdijaringan local, makasemua computer yang tersambungdijaringanakanmendapatkanalamat IP secaraotomatis

  3. Selainalamat IP, banyak parameter jaringan yang dapatdiberikanoleh DHCP, seperti default gateway dan DNS server.

  4. Cara Kerja • Karena DHCP merupakansebuah protocol yang menggunakanarsitektur client/server makadalam DHCP terdapatduapihak yang terlibat, yaktiDHCP Server dan DHCP Client. • DHCP server merupakansebuahmesin yang menjalankanlayanan yang dapat "menyewakan" alamat IP daninformasi TCP/IP lainnyakepadasemuaklien yang memintanya.
