  1. Lavender: The Purple Herb Zach G., Michael B., Alicia R., and Rose M. Mr.Martell Science 3rd

  2. 1. Our research question we are trying to answer is if Lavender grows better in light are dark habitats. We think the Lavender herb grows better in light because its able to make food for itself. • 2. Topics we will discuss during our presentation are.. • Photosynthesis • The structure of our plant • Methods and procedures for our project

  3. Background Information: About your herb 1 The scientific name for the Lavender is Lavandual Augustifolia The photosynthesis occurs in the Cytoplast of the plant cell. Flower Stem Roots Leafs

  4. Background Information: About your herb 1 • The function of the organic compound in lavender is to attract bees so it can pollinate and reproduce. • This is a huge adaptation in the environment because it has a big advantage over the other plants. • Yes this a adaptation that the plant has evolved over time. • Lavender can be used as a stress reliever, used for tea, for scent, also used for a massaging, and as a dandruff remover. • Lavender is native to a wide area of Europe, northern Africa and Asia, from the Canary Islands eastward through India.

  5. Background Information: General Plant Information The three major factors that can affect plant growth are the amount of water, how much carbon dioxide it gets, and how much sunlight it gets.

  6. Background Information: General Plant Information This slide should answer the following question: The function of photosynthesis is to create sugar to feed the plant. The chemical reaction for photosynthesis is 6CO2 + 6H2O (+ light energy) C6H12O6 + 6O2. The plant organelle responsible for creating photosynthesis is the chloroplast. Xylem is very important because it is the tubes that are responsible for transporting the food through the plant.

  7. Project Design This slide should include A description of the procedures or methods followed during the investigation.

  8. Data

  9. Other Observations • Did your plant grow towards the light or away from it? What is this process called • Did the roots of your plant grow down into the soil or up out of the soil. What is this process called? • Did you observe anything else unusual during the investigation. • .

  10. Conclusion This slide should include A summary of your results A statement that states whether the data supported or refuted your hypothesis. Questions you thought of during the investigation or thoughts on how you would improve it.

  11. Bibliography This slide should include A list of all you resources used to find information and images in MLA format Note: Use this website to help you easily generate the correct citation for each of your references. http://www.easybib.com/ Fill in all the information you can, and then copy a paste the result into the presentation.
