  1. TEAM RICHMOND 2008 The City of Richmond will be competing in the U.S. Youth Games July 16-20 in Oakland, Ca. We need your support!

What is the US Youth Games? • The US Youth Games was conceived in 1966, in New York, to offer urban youth an opportunity for recreational and cultural growth through inner city competition. • This is a National Olympic style event • Teams from New York, New Jersey, South Carolina, Alabama, San Francisco, Oakland, and, or course, Richmond will compete. • The US Youth Games is held in a different host city each year. This year it is hosted in Oakland. In 2009 it will be hosted in Orlando, Florida.

  3. Sporting Events • 15U Basketball (boys and girls) • 15U Soccer (boys and girls) • Track & Field • Swimming • Tennis • Golf • Chess • Flag Football • Bowling • Academic Bowl

  4. Why Compete? • This is a “once in a lifetime” opportunity for our Youth. • Our Youth will meet and make friends with people from around the Country. • Richmond will be on a National Stage. • It will bring a sense of pride and morale to our community. • Positive Publicity

The Venues • Cal Berkeley Dorms (houses Athletes) • The Oakland Coliseum (Closing Ceremonies) • Laney College (Track & Field, Swimming, Basketball and Opening Ceremonies) • Davis Tennis Stadium • Chabot Golf Course • Bushrod Recreation Center (Flag Football) • Oakland Tech Soccer Stadium • AT&T Park (Giants vs. Milwaukee)

  6. Participant Costs • Entry Fee: $175.00 Per Athlete Entry Fee (without lodging) • Entry Fee *($200 to stay in Cal Berkeley Dorms) • Uniforms: $35 - $65 for Team Richmond Uniform (depending on sport) • Total Cost: Between $200 - $300 per Athlete • Team Costs: (Example Basketball) 10 Players x $175 = $1750.00 (entry fees) 10 Players x $65 = $650.00 (uniforms) ----------- Total $2400.00 • Soccer has 15-18 Players---Chess 4----Golf 8 ect…

What do We Get for Our $ • Meals and transportation provided for Coaches and Athletes • Medals and Awards • T-Shirts and Backpacks (US Youth Games) • Organized Tournaments • Closing Ceremony Dance (Oakland Coliseum) • A lifetime of Memories (priceless) • Team Richmond Warm Ups • Tickets to Giants vs. Brewers

  8. We Need Sponsors • $50 Sponsors receive a Team Richmond T-Shirt. • $250 Athlete Sponsors receive a Team Richmond Jacket • Team Sponsors will have their logo on our T-Shirts • We are trying to raise $20,000 for our entire team of 100 + Athletes.
