Chalk Pastel and Charcoal Pencil

1. Chalk Pastel and Charcoal Pencil Objective: You will experiment with chalk pastels and charcoal pencil in order to see what you can come up with based on your experience, knowledge of other art materials, and creativity. DRILL: • You need the following supplies: • 9 x 12 paper or sketchbook page • Box of chalk for table • 1 Charcoal pencil per student • Wet paper towel for cleaning hands • Minimum of 3 objects from boxes up front. • Any other materials of your choice (not required) • Read the objective. • Directions: Sit objects on table in front of you. Take 40 minutes to draw what you see and use chalk pastels and charcoal pencil to add color and shading.

2. At the end of class: • If finished with chalk drawing, SPRAY WITH HAIRSPRAY. • DIRECTIONS FOR HAIRSPRAY: • Do this out in top of stairwell in hall. • Shake can. • Hold 12 - 18 inches ( 1 foot– 1 ½ feet) away • Coat well. • PUT SKETCHBOOK ON MY FRONT DESK TO BE GRADED!!!!!

Glass cases protect the Lost, Discarded and Broken; we pause and solemnly ponder their significance. Each charcoal drawing is an item discarded from my own life. And like any archeological exhibition, each piece has been examined, catalogued and presented for your interpretation. What does my rubbish tell you about my world? What does yours say about you?

11. What is a carbon footprint? • A carbon footprint is a measure of the impact our activities have on the environment, and in particular climate change.
