  5. This week • This weeks roots (page 72): • RAP - Rapere/Raptum/Rapax– to snatch, greedy, devouring • CEP- Capere/Captum– seize, take • VOR - Vorare, Voratum– to eat • CAD/CAS – Cadere, Casum– to fall Read Write Speak Listen

  6. This week • There will be a 10% penalty if you turn in your vocabulary exercises late. • You can skip exercises V and VI. Read Write Speak Listen

  7. TKAM Leftovers • We’re moving on from To Kill a Mockingbird. • The test was a little grim. I curved everybody’s score by 10 points (up to but not past 100%) • You can still turn in assignments for most of the credit. • Please return the book at your earliest convenience. The Empathy Project • The empathy project is the major assignment of second semester. • It’s an opportunity to experience someone else’s life AND practice reading and writing skills. • One of the challenges is keeping track of multiple deadlines over the rest of the semester.   9. The Empathy Project • There are class days set aside to work on the project. • You should figure on doing a chunk of the work outside of class. Read Write Speak Listen

  10. The Empathy Project • You can work with a partner to plan the project, carry out the “hands-on” part, and present to the class. • Each individual will complete his/her own writing assignments. Read Write Speak Listen

  11. The Empathy Project • Take a look at the packet. • If you are a planner user, this is a good opportunity to write down due dates. • If you are not a planner user, this might be a really good time to start. Read Write Speak Listen
